Shopping for office space is not usually what I like to do for fun. Since
we have been doing some hiring over the last several months, it is starting
to get a bit crowded over here. Anyhow, I dropped into a local business
and bumped into the owner of the building, who also happened to be a CPA.
We talked a little and I mentioned what I was looking for in an office, and
then he asked what kind of business we had. I shared that we were a paperless
done-for-you-bookkeeping company, and that we were all local here in Rocklin.
He said that he may have a client for us that he needs help with. It turns
out that it was a 25 year commercial landscape company. The owner of the
company gets swamped with his bookkeeping, then cannot provide the data
to the CPA every quarter to process his quarterly payroll reports, or
sales tax to the State Board of Equalization.
Once we had our technician install the scanner at the commercial landscape
business office, and had our account manager walk him through on how to
scan documents to us every couple of days his bookkeeping is now current
weekly. I also have it setup where his CPA can log in anytime and review
how the business is doing to help navigate everything for tax planning
throughout the year, instead of doing this at the end of the year when
it’s often too late.
Technology is great, but if you are still trying to do bookkeeping the
way you learned 15 years ago we should talk. My staff and I have figured
out just about every speed trick in the book to keep the billing clock
stopped and to get your bookkeeping done fast every week.
